Josh’s story

"I am incredibly happy to be working with Cora."

Romney Meadows Kitchen

I joined the business in November 2019 as a labourer after initially working for the company through an agency. I had worked a number of construction and landscaping jobs from the age of 16 and was looking to take the next step in my career.

The team at Cora spotted my potential and gave me the opportunities to develop myself professionally – and I took the ball and ran with it. In 2022, I was promoted to Assistant Site Manager.

I am incredibly happy to be working with Cora. The team are always there to offer me the backing and the training I need. The scale of the opportunities they have provided me has been unreal and they have always had that belief in me to succeed.

I can honestly say Cora is the best company I have ever worked for. It sounds so cheesy, but the business really does feel like one big family. You’re not seen as a number here, you’re seen as part of that family and the people really care for you. But that support doesn’t stop at training.

The team are genuinely so grateful for the work you do and always make sure to let you know how thankful they are. It motivates you to do more and be the best worker you can be. That support throughout the entire process, from the start of a project to its completion, shows its benefits in the quality of houses we build. And our commitment to sustainability and innovation make us stand out even more.

The pride I feel to work for a company that both puts its people and the planet at the heart of everything we do is immeasurable.

Building climate literacy

The climate crisis and our company’s future require ongoing knowledge-building of climate change and the material aspects of our business that contribute to global warming.

By investing in our people and providing recognised carbon literacy training to our staff, our aim is to make acting sustainably an everyday occurrence. Achieving net zero is difficult and will only come about through collective action across all areas of our lives – at home and in the workplace.
