Help us provide a warmer winter for Nottingham’s homeless

The winter months – although full of colour, lights and Christmas festivities – can be the hardest to get through if you are homeless.

Temperatures plunge and without adequate clothing, for some it can become a situation of life and death.

That’s why Cora are working with homelessness charity Framework this winter to help those sleeping rough in Nottingham through the difficult colder months.

Here, Mandy Soames, Sales and Marketing Director at Cora, explains the initiative and what we want to achieve.

A cold Christmas

According to Framework, the number of rough sleepers found by its outreach team in Nottingham throughout 2020-21 was more than 850 – with up to 15 people sleeping rough each night.

However, rough sleeping is just the most visible form of homelessness, with many more people being helped through emergency accommodation and night shelters.

With the cost of energy soaring and the cost-of-living crisis taking a toll on people’s finances across the country, many fear the number of people without a home is set to rise.

Warm clothing

To help people through the winter months, we are urging our contractors and suppliers to donate sleeping bags, hats, coats and socks.

We will be joining in too, by asking our colleagues to donate to the scheme as well.

Every item donated will go to Framework, who will distribute them to those in need across the city.

We need your help to assist people through this difficult time of year – let’s provide a warmer Christmas to those who need it most.

Donations

If you have any warm clothing items you can spare, please donate to this worthwhile cause.

You can send or drop off items at any of our branch offices, or our headquarters at Grovelands Business Park in East Haddon, Northamptonshire.

All items donated will be distributed by Framework in December.

We hope you join us in our mission to help those in need this Christmas and to give a little warmth to those struggling through winter.
