Cora’s Commercial Director Matt Wright joined the company in May 2021, bringing with him 14 years of experience in housebuilding.

After discovering a love of maths and numbers when he was younger, Matt was keen to combine this with his interest in building.

Later spotting a job opportunity at Persimmon Homes as a trainee surveyor, Matt jumped at the chance to take his first steps into the sector.

“As I liked maths and was interested in construction this opening was perfect for me,” he said.

“I started there in February 2008 and stayed there until December 2017.

“During my time there I made way from trainee to fully trained surveyor.

“I really enjoyed my time there but wanted to push ahead in my career.”

Matt then joined Davidsons Homes as a surveyor, later becoming a senior surveyor at the company.

After three years at the firm, Matt joined Cora in May 2021 as Head of Commercial.

Matt said on visiting the company’s headquarters in Northamptonshire, he was impressed by the company’s vision for the future.

“Cora is a company on a mission, to create sustainable communities while protecting and enriching the environment,” he said.

“My job is to get us where we need to be, to get building and to create these amazing places.”

A father-of-two, Matt said he enjoys spending time with his family, and watching his beloved Leicester Tigers play rugby.

“I have two kids so don’t really get much time to myself, and I’m a bit too old to play rugby now!” he said.

“Outside of work, I love spending time out and about with my wife, Pokémon-crazy seven-year-old son, Frozen-loving three-year-old daughter and our very daft dog Theo.

“My other interests include rugby, cricket and going to the gym.

“I like to see Leicester City do well in the football, but my heart is with rugby really – Tigers all the way!”
