Cora announces Lighthouse Club as its charity of the year

Cora is delighted to announce we are supporting Lighthouse Club as our charity of the year.

This amazing charity provides financial, physical and emotional support for people working in the construction industry, and to their families.

It also provides crucial wellbeing and mental health support, including construction-focussed mental health training.

Matt Wright, Commercial Director at Cora, said he was proud that Cora is supporting such a worthwhile cause.

He said: “I have attended one of the charity’s courses and it really opened up my eyes to the difficulties people can face.

“Whether you are working as a labourer, as a joiner or in the office, issues with mental health can affect anyone.

“The charity is there for any construction workers who need some support or for someone to talk to.

“It’s about starting that conversation and letting people know there is help available for them – there are people there to listen and understand.”

Cora has already donated £4,000 to the charity and will raise more throughout the year through various fundraising events.

The company are also organising mental health first aiders to help anyone struggling with their mental health.

“The charity has a campaign “Help inside the Hard Hat” which looks to raise awareness of mental health in the industry,” said Matt.

“Mental health is something I think the construction and housebuilding industries in general have overlooked throughout the years.

“But thankfully, charities like Lighthouse Club are shining a light on this very important issue.

“We know our employees are the backbone of our company and we want them to be safe and happy when they work.

“We are proud to be donating and raising money for such a brilliant charity.”
