Spotlight on…. Site manager Aki Mitha

Site manager Aki Mitha is a shining example of how hard work and a willingness to learn can lead to a flourishing career in construction.

Aki, from Coventry, joined the business as a labourer in 2018 when he was aged just 19. He has since been promoted to Site Manager at the age of 24 thanks to his perseverance and dedication to his craft.

Under Aki’s leadership, his team are in the process of delivering 33 outstanding dwellings at The Old Sawmill in Great Bowden, Leicestershire – a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

“It was a great moment showing people around the show home at The Old Sawmill, my first as site manager,” said Aki.

“In this job, no two days are the same. There are always new challenges to overcome.

“I love that I get to watch the creation of our amazing homes from start to finish – from the first spade in the ground to the bow hung on the door.

“You feel a real sense of pride when you see families moving in.”

Since joining Cora, Aki has shown great dedication to his work and ensures any issues on site are dealt with swiftly and effectively, with minimal disruption.

His friendly and approachable attitude has helped make him a popular figure on-site and he has received numerous five-star reviews from happy customers on TrustPilot, thanking him for his work.

Aki looks to continue developing professionally and is currently enrolled in a NVQ Level 6 course in Construction Site Management.

“If you show the willingness to learn, then Cora really help to open those doors to your development,” he said.

“The training on offer is excellent and it has really helped me progress in my career.

“Every few months there’s another exciting opportunity, be that on site safety or mental health.”

Away from the building site, Aki takes particular care to foster a rapport with customers.

“It is so nice to see customers smile and wave at you or stop to say hello – and that all comes down to the people-first culture we have here,” he said.
